Who are we looking for? We are seeking a Principal Engineer, Analytics and Data Science to join Research Infrastructure, Research Portfolio, Academic Division. QUT's Research Infrastructure portfolio is seeking a Principal Engineer, Analytics and Data Science to lead our analytics engineering capability. You'll design and build end-to-end data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and reporting solutions that inform strategic and operational decisions across one of Australia's fastest-growing research environments — while mentoring colleagues and championing solid data governance. You'll bring postgraduate-level expertise (or equivalent experience in analytics engineering and data science, proven ability to deliver complex data solutions, and strong communication skills to influence at every level.

What You Need To Succeed

- Education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in analytics engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver end-to-end analytics solutions encompassing data pipelines, database architecture, analytical models, and automated reporting in a complex research or large-scale IT environment.
- Proven experience in developing analytical models and frameworks to support operational and strategic decision-making for infrastructure services.
- High-level verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to produce authoritative reports, white papers, and presentations that inform operational and strategic decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative working relationships across organisational boundaries and to share technical knowledge effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor team members and provide coordination or leadership support within a team environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.
