An exciting opportunity exists for a skilled and experienced educational leader to join the team at Chinchilla State School, 164.km NW of Toowoomba and 292km WNW of Brisbane.
Chinchilla State
School caters for students from Prep to Year 6 with current enrolment numbers at 470. The ideal principal will lead an improvement agenda built around innovation, quality teaching and learning, inclusive practices and robust community partnerships. This is a temporary full-time position until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.
About Us:
Chinchilla is located approximately 3 and ½ hours from Brisbane and services a community that has undergone significant change during the past 3 - 8 years. Chinchilla was traditionally a rural community, focused on cattle grazing and crops.
Chinchilla State School continues to experience significant enrolment growth and a marked increase in the transience of families within the community. Chinchilla State School's diversity is evident across a range of social, economic and cultural aspects. Approximately 20% of the population identify as Indigenous and the school has a small but growing number of English as a Second Language students.
Chinchilla State School has a current enrolment of approximately 600 students from Prep to year 6. A special Education Unit known as the Adjusted Curriculum Extension and Support Unit (ACES) caters for a wide range of special needs and disabilities. Chinchilla State School's motto of “Play the Game” is incorporated in the schools vision of “All children Learning to the Best of their Ability”.
About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide visionary and values-based leadership by developing and promoting a shared educational vision that delivers high-quality learning outcomes and upholds ethical, inclusive, and socially just practices.
- Drive excellence in teaching and learning by setting high expectations for student achievement and staff performance while fostering a culture of continuous professional learning and improvement.
- Build strategic partnerships and future-focused initiatives through collaboration with families, community organisations, government agencies, industry, and other stakeholders to enhance educational opportunities.
- Lead effective governance and resource management by ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, making informed strategic decisions, and managing resources to achieve the school's goals and priorities.
