We’re delivering a major upgrade at Barry Beach Marine Terminal for a long-term client enabling them to decommission oil and gas rigs which has reached the end of their lifespan. This project will strengthen wharves, install massive piles, and construct heavy-duty slabs and pavements in preparation for one of the most significant offshore transitions in decades, and this project is the foundation that makes it possible.

We are building a team and central to this project is an experienced HSE Advisor to join our team and support the delivery of safe, compliant, and high-performing operations on the Barry Beach Marine Terminal upgrade. This role is critical in promoting a strong safety culture, implementing HSEQ systems, and ensuring compliance with Victorian legislative requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote and reinforce a solid safety culture through visible presence on site and proactive support to supervisors and subcontractors.
- Implement and continuously improve WHS and environmental management systems.
- Facilitate risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for high-risk activities.
- Prepare and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), work plans, and procedures.
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness programs.
- Ensure timely reporting and escalation of incidents, injuries, and near misses.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance and best practice safety standards.
- Contribute to audits, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate IV in WHS/OHS (minimum).
- Minimum 3 years in an HSEQ advisory role.
- At least 2 years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of Victorian WHS legislation and Australian Standards.
- Current First Aid certification.
- System savvy
- Cert IV Training & Assessment.
- High Risk Work License and Working at Heights certification.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication skills with an ability to demonstrate independence and initiative in completing tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills of a collaborative style that achieves trust and influences behaviours
- Sound proficiency with word processing and IT platforms to develop high standard technical, policy and procedure documentation
- Ability to read and understand construction documents including but not limited to drawings, specifications and reports
- Good knowledge of safe industry practices, building codes, Australian Standards, the safe use of construction equipment, materials, tools and plant and their associated risks
- Demonstrated experience in the management and implementation of OHS, Environmental and Quality Systems
- Ability to work under pressure, be self-motivated and adaptable to change
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills
