Infrastructure, Azure & Security Engineer

Westbourne Grammar is seeking an experienced Infrastructure, Azure & Security Engineer to own the security, reliability and continuous improvement of our cloud, infrastructure and cyber security environment, spanning Azure, Microsoft 365, identity and access management, Conditional Access, Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Intune, data protection, automation, VMware and enterprise networking.

The Opportunity

This is a hands‑on role at the centre of our security uplift, working closely with the Director of ICT to strengthen our posture against the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and Australian Essential Eight. You will have scope to shape the roadmap, mentor ICT colleagues, and see the impact of your work across the whole school community.

About You

You are a security-minded infrastructure professional with:

- Strong hands‑on experience across Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure
- Depth in Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Intune, Active Directory and Entra ID
- Experience designing and managing Conditional Access, Identity Governance and Zero Trust security controls
- Strong networking knowledge across switching, routing, firewalls, wireless and enterprise network infrastructure
- Experience with VMware virtualisation, server infrastructure and cloud-hosted services
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph and process automation tools




- Experience implementing and maintaining security frameworks such as the Essential Eight and NIST Cybersecurity Framework
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills across cloud, infrastructure and cyber security environments
- Great communication skills, translating technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders
- Exposure to Zero Trust, SOC/MDR providers or the education sector is a bonus, not a requirement.
