Product Manager
Location: Sydney CBD – In office 3 days/week
Package: Up to $160k base + super + bonus The Opportunity:
One of Australia's fastest scaling FinTechs is hiring a commercially minded, data-led Product Manager to drive growth and innovation across its personal finance product suite.
This is an ethically built, direct-to-consumer lender with over 1 million registered users, helping everyday Aussie's manage short-term cash flow issues.
Having just posted record profits, this is a scale-up proving its model works. And it does it the right way: flat, transparent pricing, no late-fee traps, recognised for multiple industry awards.
What you'll do:
- Own a squad of around 7 engineers and a dedicated designer, with data science and credit risk specialists alongside you, no delivery or analyst layer, reporting into the Head of Product
- Start each day in the numbers: approvals, conversion, losses, customer behaviour. Pull them yourself (SQL or equivalent), spot what moved, form your own view
- Break the problem down, size the commercial upside, turn it into requirements a lean squad can ship, then measure and go again
- Run multiple initiatives in parallel on a sprint cadence, not quarters, a genuine step up in pace if your world currently moves in months
- Own key features across the lending portfolio end to end: write concise requirements, rules and edge cases, and partner with lending, risk, operations, marketing and analytics on the trade-offs
- Keep lending protected, transparent and commercially smart, not just bigger for the sake of volume
What you bring:
- Proven at pace: several initiatives at once, shipped on sprint timelines, no delivery layer between you and engineering
- Owned a core web or app journey, ideally application, onboarding or origination, accountable for approvals, conversion or losses, not just top-of-funnel
- Experience in consumer lending, BNPL, on-demand pay, digital banking or other regulated credit products. Domain fluency helps but isn't the gate
- A consulting foundation is well regarded, especially if you moved from strategy or advisory into fintech or a scale-up
- Real operating experience on top: you've shipped things and worked directly with engineers, not just advised
- Strong commercial instinct: you can explain what your work did to revenue, margin or losses, not just conversion
- High curiosity, low ego, into the weeds by default
