Disability Support Worker - Active Overnight
Location: Fairfield, NSW
Employment: Casual with ongoing shifts available
Shift: Active Overnight – 9:00 pm to 6:00 am (Tuesday to Sunday)
About the Role
The Inclusion Group is seeking compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to support a 21-year-old male participant living with autism, intellectual disability, and complex support needs. The participant is non-verbal and resides at home with his family.
Due to the participant's and family's preferences, the current active overnight vacancies are available for female support workers only. However we welcome applications from male support workers, who will be considered for future daytime, evening, or other suitable support opportunities as they become available.
This role is ideal for someone who is calm, patient, proactive, and confident supporting participants with complex needs while promoting their safety, wellbeing, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide active overnight supervision and ensure the participant's safety and wellbeing at all time
- Implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies in accordance with the participant's Behaviour Support Plan.
- Provide safe, person-centred support to a participant who may present with behaviours of concern, including occasional physical behaviours. Apply proactive behaviour support strategies, de-escalation techniques,
and safe work practices in accordance with the participant's Behaviour Support Plan to promote positive outcomes and maintain a protected environment.
- Assist with personal care and hygiene.
- Respond appropriately if the participant wakes during the night and provide reassurance and support as needed.
- Complete progress notes, incident reports, and shift documentation accurately and promptly.
- Follow all care plans, risk assessments, behaviour support plans, and organisational policies.
- Assist with the participant's morning routine prior to handover.
- Maintain professional communication with the participant's family and management team.
Essential Requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current Working With Children Check (WWCC).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid Australian Driver Licence and access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle.
- Full Australian working rights.
Desirable
- Previous experience providing active overnight support.
- Medication administration competency (where applicable).
- Certificate III or higher in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, or a related qualification.
