Ecommerce Fulfillment - Packing Department Manager
Location: Melbourne, Derrimut, VIC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Lead a High-Performance Fulfillment Team
Black Bear Fulfillment is one of Australia's fastest-growing eCommerce fulfillment providers, partnering with some of the country's most exciting brands. We pride ourselves on speed, accuracy, innovation, and delivering an exceptional experience for both our clients and our team.
We're looking for an experienced Packing Department Manager to lead our packing department. You'll be responsible for overseeing a team of approximately 20 team members throughout the year, expanding to 50+ during peak trading periods.
This isn't a role for someone who simply supervises. We're looking for a genuine leader who can build accountability, solve problems quickly, maintain exceptional standards, and continuously improve the performance of the department.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Leading, coaching and developing the packing team to consistently achieve operational targets.
- Managing daily workflow to ensure orders are packed accurately and dispatched on time.
- Monitoring department KPIs and taking immediate action when performance falls below target.
- Driving productivity, quality and efficiency improvements across the packing operation.
- Managing staff performance through regular coaching, feedback and accountability.
- Handling conflict professionally and confidently, resolving issues before they impact team performance.
- Investigating operational issues and implementing practical, long-term solutions.
- Planning labour requirements and allocating resources based on daily volumes.
- Working closely with other department managers to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
- Training new team members and developing future team leaders.
- Maintaining a safe,
organised and highly efficient work environment.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who naturally takes ownership and enjoys leading people.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous leadership experience managing warehouse or fulfillment teams.
- Strong conflict resolution and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- A proven ability to monitor, analyse and improve KPIs.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make confident decisions.
- High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Confidence working independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience leading larger teams during busy seasonal periods will be highly regarded.
You’ll Thrive Here If You...
- Hold yourself and others to high standards.
- Enjoy building efficient systems and improving processes.
- Can have difficult conversations professionally and respectfully.
- Like making decisions rather than waiting to be told what to do.
- Take ownership of problems and see them through to completion.
- Can motivate a team while maintaining accountability.
- Are comfortable working in a quick-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- A growing business with genuine opportunities for career progression.
- A supportive leadership team that values initiative and continuous improvement.
- Modern warehouse systems and technology.
- The opportunity to play a key role in shaping one of Australia's leading eCommerce fulfillment businesses.
If you're an experienced operations leader who enjoys building high-performing teams and delivering outstanding operational results, we'd love to hear from you.
