TheRole

The Head ofFaculty –Music is a key leadershiprole responsible for shaping an exceptional learning experience forstudents across Years 7–12. Leading curriculum, pedagogy,assessment, and teaching practice within the faculty, you will workclosely with your cross-campus counterpart to ensure a consistentand high-quality student experience across bothcampuses.

You will also inspire and supportteaching staff to deliver high-impact learning experiences thatchallenge, motivate, and nurture everystudent.

As a leader of learning, you willchampion professional growth, collaboration, and continuousimprovement, driving innovation and excellence across the faculty.Working in partnership with the School Teaching and Learning team,Campus Head of Teaching and Learning, and fellow Heads of Faculty,you will help ensure teaching practices are informed by the latestresearch and best practice. Through the strategic use of studentlearning and assessment data, you will lead initiatives thatenhance teaching effectiveness and deliver outstanding studentoutcomes.

This isa full-time Positionof Responsibility(POR)with a 4-year fixedterm, based atour Caulfieldcampus, commencing 1 January 2027.

Keyresponsibilities

- Provide leadership and directionto the Faculty, Assistant Heads of Faculty, and staff acrossthe faculty with a focus of creating a strong vibrant learningculture that delivers a consistent student experience acrossthe school.




- Develop and empower your teamthrough structured two-way coaching conversations, recognisingachievements,facilitatingcareer growth plans, andproviding targeted qualified learning and on-the-jobdevelopmentopportunities.
- Oversee collaborative curriculumdesign and delivery ensuring alignment across all year levelsand campuses to support a unified school-wide curriculum withinthe faculty.
- Develop and implementfaculty-specific goals that align with the broaderschoolobjectivesand reflect a commitment toacademic excellence and improved student learning outcomesacross years 7 – 12.
- Work alongside the schoolStudent Experience team to develop and implement strategiesthat deepen the understanding of students’ intellectual,social, emotional, health and well-being needs,fosteringa holistic approachto studentdevelopment.
- Cultivate a culture where everystudent feelsa strong senseof belonging and isrecognised and valued by staff for their individualcontributions.
- Manage and review resources,property, and equipment to ensure alignment with School policyandoptimaluse.
- Connect learning experiences tothe wider community, fostering meaningful engagement andparticipation to enrich student learning within thefaculty.

Key selectioncriteria

Qualifications

- Current Victorian Institute ofTeaching (VIT) registration.

Skills andExperience

- Minimum 5 years proven record asan outstanding teacher.
- Experience with mentoring andcoaching to build trust amongst students,parentsandstaff, with the aim of improving and aligning pedagogicalpractices within the middle and senioryears.
- Experience teaching in bothmiddle and senior schooldesirable.




- Excellent influencing andconflict resolution and problem-solving skills and ability togive and receive feedbackinan appropriatemanner.
- Superior organisational skillsand strong ability prioritise work and manage multipletasks.
- Proven ability to managechallenging situations while effectively overseeing andprioritising issues.
- Proven experience in curriculumdevelopment and assessment across multiple year levels,ensuring high academicstandards.
- Demonstrated leadershipexperience managing teams and fostering collaboration forconsistent outcomes.
- Data literacy, with the abilityto effectively apply data to enhance studentlearning.
- Experience in leading strategicprojects and ability to drive change and inspire a culture ofcontinuous improvement.
- Relevant experience workingacross multiple campuses and collaborating with teaching staffand leadership teamsisadvantageous.
