About the Role
We are seeking an experienced individual to join our Projects Division as a Project Manager with a genuine trade background who understands construction from the ground up. You'll take ownership of project delivery across our commercial and residential renovation work, guiding our Project Supervisors and working closely with the Projects Department to keep every job on program, on budget and to spec.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has come up through the trades, knows what good site management looks like, and is ready to take the next step into managing multiple projects and people.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage commercial and residential projects from planning through to handover
- Guide, support and mentor Project Supervisors across multiple live sites
- Manage project budgets, programs, variations and progress claims
- Develop and maintain project programs and Gantt charts to track milestones, sequencing and progress across all active sites
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets and cost forecasts, and maintain regular oversight of project expenditure after project execution has been handed over to the Project Supervisors.
- Provide support in coordinating subcontractors, trades and suppliers where matters are escalated or fall outside the Project Supervisors’ control, to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor quality, safety and progress
- Identify and resolve site issues early, before they impact program or budget
- Ensure compliance with WHS regulations, building codes and quality standards
- Maintain clear communication with clients, stakeholders and internal teams throughout each project
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including reports, forecasts and site records, for senior management
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3+ years' project management experience or in a similar capacity within the building and construction industry
- Excellent communication, leadership and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience managing commercial and/or residential renovation projects
- Experience guiding or supervising Project Supervisors, Site Supervisors or similar site-based teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
- Confident building and reading Gantt charts and project programs (e.g. MS Project, Procore or similar)
- Strong cost estimation and budgeting skill
- High attention to detail in project documentation, reporting and record-keeping
- Proficiency with project management and scheduling software
- Trade qualification and/or Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) highly regarded
- Builder's Licence is an advantage
- Current Construction Induction (White Card)
- Hold a current valid driver's licence
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or be willing to obtain one.
