Project Manager / Site Supervisor – Mechanical Fabrication & Installation
EFSA Pty Ltd (Engineering Food Solutions Australia) | Brisbane, QLD, with regular travel to QLD/NSW project sites | Full-time
About the Role
EFSA is growing its site delivery capability and needs a hands-on Project Manager/Supervisor who can take a project from quote through to commissioning without needing to be walked through it. You'll work alongside our Operations Manager, picking up full ownership of jobs across our food and meat processing client base — coordinating labour, managing subcontractors and suppliers, keeping clients informed, and making sure what we quoted is what gets built and handed over.
Twelve months in, you'll be running multiple concurrent projects end-to-end with minimal oversight, trusted by clients like JBS, Casino Food Co, Swickers and Haarslev, and acting as a genuine second pair of hands for site leadership across the business.
What You'll Do
- Own project delivery from handover of the quote through to installation, testing and commissioning — the single point of accountability for the job on site.
- Plan and coordinate labour requirements, including sourcing and managing casual/contract fitters and boilermakers through recruitment partners when the internal crew is stretched.
- Supervise fabrication and installation crews on site, manage day-to-day scheduling, and resolve issues as they arise rather than escalating everything upward.
- Liaise directly with client site contacts (engineering, maintenance and operations teams at facilities such as JBS, Casino Food Co, Swickers and Haarslev) to manage expectations, variations and program changes.
- Coordinate with the estimating team to understand scope, drawings and take-offs before mobilising a project, and flag scope gaps or variations early.
- Manage subcontractor and supplier relationships on site — deliveries, access, safety inductions and quality of work.
- Maintain project documentation:
site diaries, variation records, timesheets/banked time, and handover packs.
- Uphold EFSA's WHS standards on site, including site inductions, JSAs/SWMS and incident reporting.
- Step in to cover for other site leads during leave or peak periods, including managing site access, deliveries and stakeholder meetings in their absence.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- Proven experience supervising or project managing steel fabrication and/or installation projects from start to finish, ideally in an industrial, food processing, or similar heavy-industry workplace.
- Comfortable running a site day-to-day — managing trades, subcontractors, and client stakeholders directly.
- Working knowledge of QLD WHS requirements for construction/fabrication sites.
- Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel to sites across QLD and NSW, including overnight stays for shutdowns.
- Confident, clear communicator — comfortable being the face of EFSA on a client's site.
Preferred (nice to have):
- Experience in estimating or reading fabrication drawings/take-offs, to bridge smoothly with the estimating team.
- Background in meat/food processing plant environments, specifically.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to AutoCAD is an advantage.
- White Card and any relevant high-risk work licences.
Why EFSA
- A genuine family business — small leadership team, direct access to the MD, and real ownership over your projects rather than being one of many PMs.
- Variety: no two jobs look the same, across mechanical installs, fabrication, conveyors, cooling towers and shutdown works for major food processors.
- Full-time position with all standard entitlements.
Compensation
Salary will be discussed based on experience — to be confirmed with the candidate before advertising. [Placeholder: confirm range before this goes live.]
