About the role

The Claims and Recovery Support (CaRS) Division supports the recovery and return to work of injured workers through a contemporary, person-centred approach to claims management.

As a Claims Technical Specialist, you will provide expert guidance and technical leadership across the division, supporting quality decision-making, building capability and advising on complex claims matters. Through coaching, mentoring and collaboration, you will contribute to improved recovery and return to work outcomes while supporting continuous improvement across the division.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence best-practice claims management and contribute to ongoing scheme modernisation.

Key Responsibilities

- Coach, mentor and share expertise to build technical capability across the CaRS Division.
- Provide expert advice on complex claims management matters, including legislation, policy, systems, processes and procedures.
- Support quality decision-making and positive recovery outcomes through specialist guidance.
- Contribute to consistent and effective claims management practices.
- Partner with Team Leaders and Specialists to identify capability gaps and implement development initiatives.
- Provide subject matter expertise to review and enhance mental health claims processes, procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships to support collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

About you

You are an experienced claims qualified with extensive workers' compensation knowledge and a strong understanding of Victorian workers' compensation legislation. You are recognised for your technical expertise, sound judgement and ability to influence and support others.

You will bring:





- Extensive knowledge of Victorian workers' compensation legislation.
- Advanced communication and technical skills gained within the insurance or compensation industry.
- Strong coaching, mentoring, influencing and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to build rapport and demonstrate empathy with injured workers and their support networks.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- High level written communication, organisational and time-management skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Knowledge of WorkSafe and its stakeholder landscape.
- Proficiency across a range of IT systems and applications.
