Deputy, an AI-native workforce management SaaS, is hiring a Senior Frontend Engineer to shape and build its design system with a strong emphasis on AI-native workflows. The role sits inside the design function, translating design into code and enabling AI to take part in that process, plus coaching designers to become confident design-and-build prototypers. Hybrid in Sydney or Melbourne.

What you'll do

- Build and maintain production-ready UI components that accurately reflect design intent
- Use AI tools to accelerate implementation, iteration and refinement of components, and validate AI-generated outputs for quality, accessibility and consistency
- Shape the design system (tokens, components, patterns) to be machine-readable and AI-friendly, with the metadata AI needs to generate and validate code




- Act as a core member of the design team, joining critiques and providing technical perspective so outputs are scalable and implementable
- Improve integration between design tools like Figma and engineering outputs, and explore AI-assisted testing (visual regression, accessibility)
- Create documentation and examples that serve both designers and engineers, and advocate for workflows that improve speed without compromising quality
