First Steps is seeking an Early Childhood Teacher to join our team on a part time basis. This is a flexible opportunity designed for educators who are passionate about nurturing young learners in the early childhood years. Based in Atherton QLD, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on children's development whilst maintaining work-life balance through flexible scheduling arrangements.
As an Early Childhood Teacher, you will be responsible for creating safe, engaging and stimulating learning environments for children, implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and fostering positive relationships with families and colleagues.
Key responsibilities
1. Plan and implement educational activities and experiences that promote children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development
2. Create and maintain safe, clean and welcoming classroom environments that encourage exploration and learning
3. Observe and assess children's development, documenting progress and identifying individual learning needs
4. Build positive relationships with children and respond sensitively to their emotional and physical needs
5. Communicate regularly with parents and carers about children's learning, development and wellbeing
6. Collaborate with colleagues to plan cohesive learning experiences and share best practice approaches
7. Support children's transitions and manage behaviour in a constructive and nurturing manner
8. Adhere to early childhood education standards, policies and safeguarding procedures
9. Participate in ongoing professional development and reflective practice to enhance teaching quality
What we’re looking for
1.
Early Childhood Teaching qualification or equivalent recognised qualification in early childhood education
2. Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement
3. First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
4. Strong knowledge of child development and evidence-based early childhood teaching practices
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families and colleagues
6. Ability to create inclusive, safe and stimulating learning environments
7. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic, part-time working arrangement
8. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing
9. Experience working in early childhood education settings is highly valued
