Teach Mathematical thinking, not just exam drills
Small groups, curriculum provided
Paid post class time for marking and preparation
Myko Education is a boutique Mathematics learning centre established in Hawthorn, Melbourne.
We are not a past-papers factory. Our students are taught to think Mathematically — to reason, to justify, to sit with a problem they can't immediately solve. We track a student's growth against their own previous work, not against the kid next to them. Every student runs on a differentiated pathway rather than a lockstep class schedule.
That approach is unusual in this industry, and it means the job is different too.
What you'll do
Teach small groups across Years 4–10
Diagnose where a student's reasoning actually breaks down, and adjust their pathway accordingly
Work from our existing curriculum, and feedback on how it lands in the room
Mark students homework weekly and provide feedback on how they can improve
Write short, honest progress notes parents can act on
Who this suits
A degree (or current study) in Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and/or Education [Must]
You can explain why a method works, not just how to execute it
You'd rather a student get a wrong answer through sound reasoning than a right answer by pattern-matching
Who this doesn't suit If your instinct is to hand over the model answer and move on, or if you measure success primarily by whether a student can reproduce a solution under time pressure, you'll find our approach frustrating. That's a fair signal to skip this one.
What we offer
[$60 - $90] per hour [Casual]
Paid — not just contact hours
Curriculum and assessment materials provided; you're not writing resources on weekends
Work hours: Weekday afternoons/evenings and Weekends
