About the role

The Mater Private Hospital Redlands' Perioperative Department is searching for an experienced, enthusiastic and energetic Ophthalmic Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse. This position will be offered on a casual basis. Flexibility is required as you will be required to work a range of shifts Monday to Friday with an occasional Saturday shift available.

Key responsibilities

- Providing expert ophthalmic scrub and scout nursing care and potential exposure to a variety of surgical procedures
- Delivering holistic, patient‑centred care with consideration for physical, emotional, and individual patient needs
- Maintaining compliance with infection control standards, clinical policies, and safety protocols
- Working collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and perioperative colleagues to support seamless theatre workflows
- Contributing to quality improvement initiatives and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Supporting a positive team environment that reflects Mater’s Mission, Values, and commitment to excellence

About you

You are a confident and capable perioperative nurse with a strong foundation in scrub and scout practice, who enjoys working in a fast‑paced theatre setting and takes pride in delivering high‑quality patient care.

You will bring:

- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- A minimum of four years’ post‑graduate experience working as a scrub/scout Registered Nurse
- Demonstrated ability to practice independently within the perioperative environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills,



with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
- A commitment to patient safety, professional standards, and ongoing learning and development
