The quick version

We’re AI-native to the bone. You ship with Claude Code, Cursor or similar every single day, and two days of you outbuilds five days of the old way

Location: Toorak, Melbourne - hybrid. Face-to-face with the founders some days, wherever you train best the rest. Remote within Australia considered for an absolute weapon, open to flexible hours.

Where this is going

Hardcore Harry’s started as backyard fitness battles between mates. It’s now Australia’s greatest fitness challenge community: an app where anyone - the weekend warrior, the gym regular, the endurance junkie - competes for real cash prizes, plus sold-out live events like King of the Hill and Longest Mile.

Next up: direct Strava/Garmin integrations, bigger prize pools, more events, and a global rollout. The roadmap is stacked and the app sits at the centre of all of it.

You’d be getting in before the world catches on. That’s the trade: lean hours and startup pay now, equity and a founding-engineer seat at something that’s actually moving.

The crew you’d be joining

Nobody here is clock-punching. Harry’s is co-founders and early adopters, all with sweat in the game - pouring heart and soul into this thing nights, weekends and every hour in between,



because we believe in what it’s becoming.

You’d be our first in-house developer. Not a contractor invoicing hours. One of us - working side by side with our CTO to bring this thing to life. We’re looking for someone who believes in the vision and the brand the way we do, and the equity exists for exactly one reason: when someone backs us early, we want them rewarded like they were here from the start. Because they were.

The role

We ran this with contractors. They were fine. We’re done with fine.

We want one of our own - someone who treats the app like their name is on it, because with ESOP, it is. You’ll take real ownership of our Flutter apps on iOS and Android: architecture, features, releases, performance, the lot. No layers of management. No committee. You, the CTO, the founders, and a product with everything on the line.

Mobile is the priority. But if you can also throw down across our web stack - TypeScript, React, APIs, Postgres - you’re the unicorn we’re hunting, and you go straight to the top of the leaderboard.

Why 2-3 days a week isn’t a joke

Because we don’t build the old way. One engineer with genuine AI leverage - agentic coding tools driving, human judgment steering - ships what a small team shipped three years ago. We’re not looking for someone who’s “excited to learn AI tools.” We want someone already living it, who can sit down with our CTO and show their workflow without flinching. Effort matters more than talent, but leverage beats both.

What you’ll actually do

- Design, build and ship features in Flutter across iOS and Android from one codebase
- Own the mobile architecture - state management, navigation, modularisation, testing. Your calls, your reasons
- Integrate with our REST APIs and handle offline behaviour, caching and sync (athletes submit entries from paddocks and pools - it has to just work)




- Run the full release cycle: App Store and Play Store submissions, signing, CI/CD
- Hunt down jank, slow startups and battery drain like they owe you money
- Sit with the founders and CTO, turn ideas into shipped product the same week, and watch athletes use it that weekend
- Push our AI-native way of building even further - you’ll help define how Harry’s ships as the team grows around you

What you need to bring (must-haves)

- 1-2+ years building and shipping mobile apps, with a production app live on the App Store and/or Google Play that you genuinely built - send us the link, it’s worth more than your CV.
- Solid Dart and Flutter, including a state-management approach (Bloc, Riverpod or similar) and real architecture patterns
- AI-native workflow - Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot or similar as a core part of how you build, test and debug. Be ready to prove it live
- Confidence with async programming, API integration and local persistence
- Battle scars from the release process - versioning, store submissions, mobile CI/CD
- Testing (unit, widget, integration) and profiling chops
- Self-direction. You’ll be trusted like a founder, not managed like a junior
- The right to work in Australia

Straight to the front of the queue

- Full-stack range - TypeScript, React, Node/APIs, PostgreSQL. One person who can move across the whole product is our dream signing
- Native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) beyond Flutter
- Firebase, analytics, crash reporting, feature flags
- You’ve shipped your own thing - side project, indie app, startup
- You train. Run, lift, ride, swim - anything. You’ll build a better product if you’re one of the athletes using it
