The opportunity

The Animal Collection Officer is a critical frontline rolewithin Council's Community Safety and Compliance team. Workingprimarily in the field, you'll support Animal ManagementOfficers through animal collections, park patrols, animal wastebag replacement, investigations and pound operations. This roleplays a direct part in promoting community safety, animalwelfare and responsible pet ownership while helping Councilmeet key service delivery targets, including patrol coverage,complaint response times and compliance activities.

What you’ll do

- Safely collect, transport and care for animals inaccordance with animal welfare standards andlegislation.
- Conduct patrols across parks, beaches and public spaces tosupport compliance and community safety.
- Assist with investigations, complaint responses andoperational animal management activities.
- Support pound operations including impoundments, transfers,cleaning and facility maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records, replace animal waste bags andprovide high-quality customer service and communityeducation.

What you need to succeed

- Experience in animal handling, animal welfare, localgovernment, compliance or customer-facing roles.
- Ability to safely and humanely handle, restrain andtransport animals, including injured or distressedanimals.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engagepositively with community members and stakeholders.
- Sound administrative skills including record keeping andthe use of mobile technology and computer systems.




- Current Victorian Driver Licence, Working with ChildrenCheck and ability to obtain a National Police Check.

- Progressed candidates will be required to completeaNational Police Record Check, a Pre-Employment Medical Check& a Working With Children Check (WWCC). Candidates must also holda valid Victorian Driver's License.
