A major Australian bank is seeking a Senior AWS Devops Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Role can be based in Sydney or Melboune and the team work 2 days a week in the office.

The role works closely with customer teams and platform product teams responsible for a broad range of AWS capabilities, including emerging AI and generative AI services.

Responsibilities

- Design, build, and operate secure AWS solutions across a wide range of projects (from core platform through to AI and Gen AI workloads).
- Provide AWS DevOps expertise and guidance to internal application teams throughout their cloud adoption journey.
- Solution shaping, technical investigation, automation, documentation, and the coordination of feature uplift or new pattern requests
- Assist teams with migration, deployment, and optimisation activities

Key Skills / Experience

- + 5 years AWS engineering experience in senior roles




- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud-native services such as VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, and KMS
- Exposure to AI and generative AI services on AWS, such as Amazon Bedrock, Bedrock AgentCore, and Amazon SageMaker, with a genuine interest in growing in this space.
- Expert Terraform
- Strong understanding of cloud security and operational practices, including IAM, RBAC, network security, secrets management, encryption, monitoring, logging, and production readiness.
- Experience with containerisation and microservices patterns using Docker and Amazon ECS.
- Ability to analyse customer requirements, ask positive discovery questions, and translate technical needs into practical solution options.
- Financial Services and consulting experience highly regarded
