Salary range: $75,000-85,000
A to Z Auto Mechanical Club is seeking a skilled Motor Mechanic to join their team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose and identify mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles using specialised diagnostic equipment and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Remove, dismantle and examine engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, braking systems and other mechanical components to determine repair or replacement requirements.
- Repair or replace worn, damaged or defective vehicle parts and components, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension and braking systems, to restore safe and efficient vehicle operation.
- Reassemble engines, transmissions and other mechanical components following repairs, ensuring all work complies with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Carry out routine vehicle servicing and preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes, lubrication, engine tune-ups and fluid replacement.
- Test repaired vehicles and mechanical systems, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimum performance, safety and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Inspect vehicles to assess their mechanical condition, identify defects and recommend necessary repairs or maintenance to ensure roadworthiness.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and ensure vehicles comply with relevant safety and emission requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, diagnostic findings, repairs completed, parts used and labour performed for service history and customer records.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment by following workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with customers and colleagues regarding vehicle faults, repair recommendations and maintenance requirements.
Qualifications and other requirements
- Completion of a Certificate IV or an equivalent qualification in a relevant automotive field.
- At least three years of recent, full time experience as a qualified motor mechanic.
- Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, braking, and electrical components.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
- Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks involving lifting, bending, and prolonged standing.
