About us

Superior Skip Bins is part of AWC Group. We provide skip-bin, waste transport and resource recovery services for households, builders and businesses across Gympie and surrounding areas. We are building a practical, safety-focused team that takes pride in recovering useful materials, keeping the yard organised and making sure every load is handled through the correct pathway.

The opportunity

We are looking for a reliable Resource Recovery Team Member to join our Gympie operations team. This is an active, hands-on role involving manual picking and sorting, material separation, housekeeping, yard support and safe coordination around trucks and mobile plant.

Depending on your training, licences and demonstrated competence, the role may also include operating assigned plant or equipment. No one is expected to operate plant or perform higher-risk work until they have been trained, assessed and formally authorised.

We may appoint more than one suitable candidate through this recruitment process.

What you will do

- Pick and sort accepted materials into the correct reuse, recycling, recovery, stockpile or disposal streams.
- Inspect incoming loads from a safe position and identify contamination, prohibited waste or unsafe material for escalation.
- Keep tipping, sorting, stockpile, traffic and pedestrian areas clean, orderly and safe.
- Support bin movements, loading, unloading and stock management while maintaining exclusion zones around trucks and mobile plant.
- Complete pre-start, area and equipment checks and report defects or unsafe conditions promptly.
- Operate assigned plant or equipment only when trained, competent, licensed where required and authorised by AWC.
- Record weights, dockets, stock movements, contamination,

defects and incidents accurately using the assigned system.
- Work cooperatively with drivers, yard personnel, contractors and supervisors and provide clear shift handovers.
- Follow site traffic, waste-acceptance, environmental, PPE, hygiene and emergency procedures.
- Stop work and seek direction whenever a task, load, person, vehicle or equipment condition is unsafe or outside approved controls.

What we are looking for

- A reliable person who turns up, communicates clearly and works well in a practical team.
- Strong safety awareness around trucks, mobile plant, tipping areas, stockpiles and mixed waste materials.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work outdoors in changing weather, dust, noise, odour and dirty-material environments while using the required controls and PPE.
- Ability to identify and separate material streams accurately and follow site instructions.
- Confidence to stop a task and ask for help when conditions are unsafe or unclear.
- Ability to use a phone, tablet or site system for basic photos, dockets, checks and records.
- Ability to safely perform the inherent requirements of the role, with reasonable adjustments considered where applicable.

Useful, but not essential

- Experience in waste, recycling, resource recovery, transfer stations, civil works, construction, quarrying, warehousing, manufacturing or agriculture.
- Experience operating forklifts,

excavators, loaders or other plant.
- A current forklift high-risk work licence or other relevant plant tickets.
- A current Australian driver's licence.

Relevant experience is valued, but attitude, reliability and a genuine commitment to working safely are equally important. Plant experience or a ticket does not automatically authorise independent operation; site induction, task training and competency verification still apply.

What we offer

- A full time, practical role based in Gympie.
- Varied work across material recovery, yard operations and equipment support.
- Role-specific induction, training and competency assessment.
- A team environment where safety takes priority over production pressure.
- Remuneration discussed with shortlisted candidates based on relevant experience, licences and competencies.

How to apply

Apply through SEEK with your resume and a short note telling us:

- why this type of hands-on work interests you;
- any waste, yard, construction, warehouse or industrial experience you have;
- any plant experience, licences or tickets you hold; and
- when you would be available to start.

The successful applicant may be required to complete lawful, role-relevant pre-employment checks, which may include right-to-work evidence, licence verification, fitness-for-work assessment, drug and alcohol screening, site induction and competency verification.

Superior Skip Bins and AWC Group are committed to a respectful and inclusive workplace. We assess applicants on role-relevant skills, experience and capability. Reasonable adjustments are available during the recruitment process and in the workplace where applicable.
