About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager to lead the daily operations of our fuel station and convenience store in Queensland. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining high customer service standards, overseeing inventory and financial performance, and ensuring compliance with Queensland and Australian workplace, safety, and retail regulations.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, organise and control the day-to-day operations of the fuel station and convenience store.
- Recruit, supervise, train and mentor retail staff.
- Prepare and manage staff rosters, leave, and performance reviews.
- Ensure excellent customer service and promptly resolve customer enquiries and complaints.
- Monitor fuel, food, beverage and convenience store stock levels, place orders, and liaise with suppliers.
- Manage pricing, merchandising and promotional activities to maximise sales.
- Oversee cash handling, banking, end-of-day reconciliation and POS operations.
- Monitor sales, expenses and profitability, and prepare operational reports.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, food safety standards (where applicable), tobacco and vaping product legislation, and responsible retailing obligations.
- Maintain a clean, safe and well-presented store and forecourt.
- Minimise stock loss through effective inventory control and loss prevention procedures.
- Ensure fuel pumps, equipment and facilities are maintained and promptly report maintenance issues.




- Implement company policies and procedures and ensure compliance with relevant Queensland and Australian legislation.

Skills and Experience

- At least one to two years' experience in retail management or a supervisory role, preferably in a fuel station, convenience store or supermarket.
- Strong leadership, communication and team management skills.
- Experience with POS systems, cash reconciliation and inventory management.
- Ability to analyse sales performance and implement strategies to improve business results.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings and public holidays.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.

Qualifications

- Certificate IV in Retail Management, Diploma of Retail Management, Diploma of Business, or a related qualification is desirable.
- Relevant work experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications where appropriate.
