ABOUT THE ROLE The Retail Security Specialist is a dedicated, full-time security role responsible for managing crime-related loss in high-loss retail stores. This position serves as a critical link between store operations, security systems, and law enforcement to deliver a comprehensive loss prevention strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, respond to and manage safety incidents in real-time, assist covert security personnel, and provide deterrence against high-frequency theft
- Build and maintain relationships with local police, Centre Management, and security teams, and ensure timely reporting of theft and security incidents
- Review CCTV footage, collect and organise evidence, upload to the reporting system,



and serve as the primary point of contact for police requests
- Monitor and respond to all loss technology alerts in partnership with the Security Operations Centre, and identify and report high-harm offenders
- Ensure team members are using and wearing safety devices
- Assist in investigating internal stock theft
- Ensure all merchandise is properly product protected
- Maintain physical security of store premises
- Provide value-added support across: high risk products, threatening situations and reporting, product protection execution, shop floor security, technology systems and alerts.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 3 years' experience in retail security in a supervisor capacity, loss prevention, or a similar security-focused role
- Retail Security Supervisor experience highly preferred
- Current Victorian Security Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current National Police Check
- Strong understanding of loss prevention best practices, security systems, and criminal law related to retail theft
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, customers, and law enforcement
- Proficient in the use of surveillance equipment including CCTV systems, alarm systems, and other security technologies
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to identify suspicious behaviour in a retail environment
- Physical capacity to stand or walk for extended periods and respond to emergency situations swiftly
