Early Childhood Education & Care | Melbourne | Hybrid | Not‑for‑Profit An established not‑for‑profit early childhood education and care provider is seeking an experienced Risk, Compliance & OHS Business Partner to support the safety, wellbeing and quality of services delivered across a large, multi‑site environment.
This role sits at the centre of child safety, staff wellbeing, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement. It is suited to someone who is comfortable working with complexity, sensitive matters and ambiguity, and who brings sound judgement, strong investigative capability and a practical approach to risk.
This is not a desk‑based compliance role. You will be a trusted advisor to leaders and educators, supporting real situations as they arise and helping strengthen systems over time.
Whilst this role is offered as an initial 6 month fixed term contract, there is high likelihood of extension or permanency for the right candidate.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of of Risk & Compliance, the role spans four key areas:
Child safety & investigations
- Lead and conduct internal investigations, including complex and sensitive child safety and workplace matters
- Prepare clear, defensible investigation reports aligned with procedural fairness and natural justice
- Support leaders through serious incidents and reportable conduct matters, including regulator notifications
Workplace health & safety
- Partner with leaders on physical and psychological safety risks
- Support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions
- Help integrate staff safety obligations with child safety requirements
Risk, compliance & quality systems
- Identify trends and systemic issues from incidents, audits and reviews
- Contribute to policy,
process and system improvements
- Support regulatory compliance and mandatory reporting obligations
Coaching & culture
- Build capability through practical guidance and coaching
- Promote a solid reporting culture where people feel supported to speak up
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement in everyday practice
About you You are a calm, credible risk or child safety skilled who is comfortable working in emotionally complex environments and dealing with sensitive, high‑stakes matters.
You will likely bring
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as early childhood, social work, psychology, community services or related disciplines
- Demonstrated experience conducting workplace and or child safety investigations
- A strong understanding of procedural fairness, natural justice and trauma‑informed practice
- Experience working in regulated environments such as education, community services, health, NFP or government
- Strong written skills and the ability to produce clear, well‑reasoned investigation and incident reports
- The confidence to advise, influence and challenge leaders when required
Experience with the National Quality Framework, Reportable Conduct schemes, WHS legislation or formal investigation training is beneficial, though demonstrated capability and sound judgement are more important than titles alone. Why consider this opportunity?
