ROLE SUMMARY:

The School Assistant supports teachers, students, and administrative staff in the daily operations of the school. This role involves assisting with classroom activities, supervising students, preparing materials, and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Assist teachers with classroom management and instructional support.
- Supervise students during class, recess, lunch, arrival, and dismissal times.
- Support students with special needs or learning difficulties under the guidance of teaching staff.
- Prepare and organize learning materials and classroom resources.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly classroom setting.
- Provide administrative support such as photocopying, filing, and data entry.
- Escort students to and from different areas of the school.
- Monitor student behaviour and report concerns to appropriate staff.
- Support school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE: SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

- Communication skills - Clear and effective interaction with students, staff, and parents.
- Classroom support skills - Assisting with lesson preparation, student engagement, and behaviour management.
- Organisational skills - Managing materials, schedules, and tasks efficiently.
- Basic IT skills - Using school systems, email, and educational software.
- First aid knowledge - Often desirable or required,



especially for playground or excursion supervision.
- Conflict resolution - Helping to manage minor disputes or behavioural issues calmly.

QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional certifications or training).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- A valid Working with Children Check.
- Provide lunch & playground cover and assist with pick up and drop off duties.
- A willingness to attend school events outside regular hours as required (e.g., performances, parent-teacher interviews, etc.).
