Putzmeister Oceania builds and supports the concrete pumping equipment that keeps major construction and mining projects moving across Australia. We are looking for a Fitter & Welder to join our Production – Fabrication team in Altona and help deliver safe, high‑quality fabricated components for our machines.

You’ll work as part of a small crew fitting, welding and assembling structural components to drawings and weld symbols, including work on concrete pump booms and other high‑strength steel structures. This role suits an experienced fabricator/welder who enjoys practical work, quality outcomes and a steady weekday roster in a well‑equipped workshop.

In this role you will:

- Perform fabrication, welding, cutting, fitting and assembly work to job instructions, drawings and specifications
- Produce welds and fabricated components that meet quality, dimensional and structural requirements.
- Support fit‑up, tack welding, final welding, grinding and finishing activities as required.
- Use tools, welders,



lifting gear and workshop equipment safely and help keep the fabrication area clean and organised.

We’re looking for someone who:

- Has a trade qualification in fabrication, welding or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience in heavy equipment or construction.
- Can read and work from drawings, weld symbols and job instructions with good attention to detail.
- Understands protected fabrication and welding practices and is comfortable working with lifting gear and workshop equipment.
- For boom and high‑strength structural welding, can work to approved welding procedures and is willing to hold or obtain relevant qualifications under AS/NZS 1554 and/or ISO 9606‑1 for the applicable material group.
- Works well in a team, communicates clearly and takes pride in producing quality work on time.
