Parts Interpreter - Back Counter operator

Caroline Springs Mazda is seeking a Parts Interpreter - Back Counter Operator to join our dynamic automotive dealership team on a full time basis. This is a key position based in Ravenhall, Victoria, where you will be instrumental in managing our parts inventory and supporting both our internal teams and external customers. In this role, you will be the backbone of our parts department, ensuring efficient processing of orders, accurate stock management, and exceptional service delivery. The position requires someone who can work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

- Processing customer parts requests and orders with accuracy and efficiency, using automotive parts management systems
- Identifying and locating the correct parts using technical documentation and parts identification systems
- Managing stock levels, conducting inventory checks, and maintaining accurate records of parts availability
- Liaising with suppliers to arrange delivery of parts not held in stock, ensuring timely fulfilment of customer requirements
- Providing technical advice to customers regarding part compatibility, specifications and availability
- Maintaining a well‑organised and clean parts counter area, ensuring all materials are stored correctly and safely
- Processing payments and managing transactions with accuracy and integrity
- Communicating effectively with mechanics, service advisors and other dealership staff to support workshop operations
- Supporting warranty claims and managing returns of defective parts

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a parts counter operator, parts interpreter or in a similar role within the automotive industry would be ideal however not essential
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, vehicles and part identification systems
- Proficiency with parts management software and computer systems,



with the ability to learn new systems quickly
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing orders and managing inventory
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues
- A customer‑focused approach with a commitment to providing exceptional service
- Ability to work independently whilst maintaining strong teamwork and collaboration
- Physical capability to handle parts inventory, including lifting and carrying when required
- A current valid driver's licence is advantageous
