At EBOS Group, our portfolio of businesses is built on the trusted role our 5700+ people play in supporting the health and wellbeing of people and pets across Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia and Hong Kong across 133 locations. We are the largest and most diversified Australasian marketer, wholesaler and distributor of healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical products and a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of Animal Care brands.
From remote rural towns to global cities, in times of emergency and when experience matters, we aim to be there - keeping essential products moving and backing better outcomes for millions. EBOS Group is publicly listed on the New Zealand and Australian stock exchanges.
About the Role:
At EBOS Group, cyber security is no longer just about protecting technology — it is about enabling a complex, growing and essential business to operate safely, confidently and at scale. As we continue to strengthen our Group-wide security capability, this role will help protect the systems, data and digital foundations that keep critical healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical and animal care products moving across our network.
This is not a narrow monitoring role. As Security Engineer, you will work across cyber engineering, identity and access management, incident response and continuous improvement, combining hands-on technical investigation with the practical judgement needed to improve how security risks are identified, managed and remediated.
You will
- Move between operational security activity, complex incident analysis, platform support, control improvement and stakeholder advice — while contributing to a more mature, intelligent and scalable cyber security model across EBOS Group.
- Combine hands-on security engineering, incident response,
identity operations and continuous improvement to solve practical cyber security problems and help shape a function with visible business impact.
- Take ownership of security engineering and operational security activity across a varied technology environment, helping to protect critical systems while improving the way incidents, vulnerabilities, identity controls and security risks are managed.
- Improve process, documentation, detection capability and operational maturity.
- Investigate and respond to complex security incidents escalated from first-line support, supporting containment, remediation and clear closure.
- Monitor, analyse and interpret security events across enterprise and identity platforms to identify threats, anomalies and recurring control gaps.
- Resolve security and identity-related support tickets across cyber engineering and IAM operations, ensuring issues are progressed with discipline and practical judgement.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend improvements that reduce repeat incidents, strengthen controls and improve the quality of operational security delivery.
- Support vulnerability assessment, remediation tracking and reporting to reduce risk exposure across a complex, multi-business workplace.
- Improve SOC playbooks, detection tuning, documentation and repeatable workflows so security activity becomes more consistent, measurable and scalable.
- Work closely with cyber engineering, identity, infrastructure, operations, vendors and business stakeholders to turn security insight into practical action.
About You:
You are a security professional who thrives in the detail but is motivated by more than closing tickets. You bring the curiosity to investigate issues properly, the judgement to understand risk in context, and the confidence to work across technical and business stakeholders to improve how security work is delivered. You are comfortable with pace, ambiguity and change, and you can balance practical incident response with the opportunity to help build a more mature cyber security function.
We seek:
- Strong experience in security operations, cyber engineering, IAM, incident response or a related technical security role.
- Demonstrated analytical capability, including experience investigating security events, identifying indicators of compromise and assessing incident impact.
- Exposure to enterprise security and identity platforms such as Okta, Netskope, Proofpoint and Cloudflare, or equivalent technologies.
- Confidence translating technical findings into practical recommendations for engineering, infrastructure, operations and security leadership audiences.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to shape better process, documentation, detection capability and operational security maturity by doing the work.
- Current knowledge of security threats, tooling and frameworks, supported by ongoing learning, relevant certification or equivalent practical experience.
