Mekina Technologies Pty Ltd is looking for a Security Monitoring Centre Control Room Operator to join the team in our Hobart Office! This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the ongoing success of our Security Monitoring Centre in a dynamic and challenging position.

About the role

We are a 24-hour, 7-days a week A1 Graded Security Alarm Monitoring Centre in Hobart, Tasmania looking for reliable and motivated Monitoring Centre/Call Centre Operators with the availability to work days/nights/weekends. Must be available across full scope of shifts.

Your main duties will include:

- Attending to a high volume of inbound/outbound calls

- Monitoring of Alarm Systems in accordance with client instructions

- Providing a consistent level of exceptional customer service

- Ensuring high accuracy with data entry and administration tasks

- Managing and providing a resolution to customer complaints

- Remotely monitoring of CCTV systems

Skills and experience The ideal candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

- Strong customer service experience
- An excellent phone manner, with a polite, friendly, and positive attitude

- Strong communication, literacy, and numeracy skills; with a high level of attention to detail

- Robust organization skills; the ability to multi-task and prioritize duties

- Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
- The ability to deal with challenging customers & scenarios




- The ability to work as part of a team, or independently when required

- Intermediate Microsoft Office, and general IT/Typing skills

- Computer knowledge that everyone should know includes understanding how to operate a computer, navigate the internet, send and receive emails, use word processing software like Microsoft Word, and manage files and folders.

- The future candidate should demonstrate specialized knowledge and skills in handling monitoring equipment, monitoring software, responding to alarms, and maintaining situational awareness.

- You must Hold a current Tasmanian Security Guard License. Having a Monitoring Room Operator endorsement is definitely an advantage for a role as a Security Officer and Monitoring Centre Operator. Successful candidate will be required to obtain a Monitoring Room Operator endorsement within 3 months of commencing an employment.

- have permanent Australian residency (min. 12 months)
