We're partnering with a number of respected organisations across the Newcastle and Hunter region that are seeking commercially minded accounting professionals to join their finance teams. These opportunities span both Senior Financial Accountant and Financial Accountant positions, offering the chance to work closely with operational leaders while contributing to meaningful business outcomes.

About the opportunities

These are hands-on accounting roles where you'll become a trusted member of the finance team rather than simply processing transactions.

You'll have exposure across the full accounting cycle, supporting month-end reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and business partnering, while helping leaders make informed commercial decisions.

Success in these positions comes from being someone who enjoys asking questions, understanding how a business operates and taking genuine ownership of your work.

Your responsibilities may include

Depending on the opportunity, your responsibilities could include:

- Preparing month-end financial reports and analysis.
- Completing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
- Preparing journals, accruals and reconciliations.
- Assisting with statutory reporting and audit requirements.
- Monitoring capital expenditure and assets reporting.




- Partnering with operational leaders to provide financial insights.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes.
- Providing ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to Executive teams.
- Working collaboratively within centralised finance function

About You

You're an accounting skilled who enjoys being part of the business - not just sitting behind the numbers. You take genuine ownership of your work, pride yourself on producing accurate, high-quality financial information and naturally review your work before submitting it.

You're commercially curious, proactive and enjoy solving problems by applying logic and critical thinking. You thrive in fast-paced environments, can confidently manage competing priorities and reporting deadlines, and are always looking for opportunities to improve processes and add value.

You build strong relationships across a business, communicate financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders, and enjoy working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes.

Ideally, you'll bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting (CPA or CA completed, or currently progressing, highly regarded).




- Approximately 2–6 years' experience within an accounting or finance role.
- Experience working to month-end reporting deadlines and delivering accurate, timely financial information.
- Strong reconciliation, financial reporting and analytical skills.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach, strong attention to detail and a genuine sense of accountability.
