Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne CBD. As a Senior Business Services Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting, taxation, regulatory compliance and AML/CTF services to a diverse range of clients, including:
Individuals
Companies
Trusts
Partnerships
Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs) You will prepare financial statements and tax returns, manage ATO and ASIC compliance obligations, undertake technical taxation work, assist with tax planning strategies, and ensure clients meet their statutory and AML/CTF obligations. Role Purpose
This role is designed for an experienced public practice accountant who enjoys managing work from commencement through to completion and takes pride in delivering technically accurate, commercially sound outcomes. The position offers the opportunity to work autonomously while collaborating with a broader qualified team, without the responsibility of managing team members or maintaining a client portfolio.
The Senior Business Services
Accountant plays an integral role in ensuring clients meet their financial reporting, taxation, statutory and Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) obligations while providing trusted advice and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities Prepare financial statements and income tax returns across a broad range of entity types.
Manage accounting and taxation engagements from commencement through to completion.
Prepare BAS, IAS, FBT returns and other statutory lodgements.
Coordinate ASIC annual reviews, company changes and corporate compliance requirements.
Prepare CGT calculations, Division 7A calculations and other technical taxation schedules.
Liaise with the ATO, ASIC and other regulatory bodies.
Complete Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and support AML/CTF compliance requirements.
Research taxation legislation and provide practical, commercially focused solutions.
Maintain high-quality working papers and technical documentation.
Build trusted relationships through exceptional client service.
Qualifications Minimum 5 years' Australian public practice accounting experience
Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation legislation
Experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across multiple entity types
Experience managing ATO and ASIC compliance
Excellent analytical, organisational and communication skills
High attention to detail and commitment to quality Desirable CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion)
SMSF experience
Xero, MYOB and cloud accounting experience
Exposure to taxation planning and business advisory
