Southern Generators & Electrical is looking for a reliable and hands-on Manufacturing Trade Assistant to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and wants to build a career in the generator and electrical installation industry.
About the Role
Working closely with our qualified trades team, you will primarily assist with the permanent on-site installation of new generator sets, along with a variety of ancillary workshop and site-based tasks. This is an active, physical role suited to someone who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys learning on the job.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting tradespeople with the installation and commissioning of new generator sets on customer sites
- Preparing generator sets, enclosures, and associated equipment for installation
- Supporting mechanical work under supervision
- Loading, unloading, and positioning equipment safely on site
- Assisting with fabrication, fitting, and minor mechanical tasks
- General workshop duties including housekeeping,
tool maintenance, and stock handling
- Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site and company procedures
- Other ancillary duties as directed by supervisors and tradespeople
What We're Looking For
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions
- Comfortable with manual handling and physical, hands-on work
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious
- Current driver's licence (essential) and truck licence would be desirable.
- Previous experience would be well regarded in sheet metal fabrication and welding skills
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as required
