Canterbury College is one of Queensland's leading Anglican ELC-12 schools, located in the rapidly growing corridor spanning Logan, the northern Gold Coast and southern Brisbane.

As we continue to shape a bold vision for the future, we are seeking an outstanding primary educator to join our Junior School as Head of Student Care , a newly-devised leadership position focused on student wellbeing, behaviour, family engagement and social-emotional development across Prep to Year 6, with a particular focus on the early primary years.

The Role:

Reporting to the Head of Junior School through the Assistant Head P-2 and Assistant Head 3-6, this highly relational role combines leadership, student support and parent engagement. You will work closely with students, families and staff to foster a safe, positive and productive learning environment while building the social and emotional foundations that support lifelong success.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading behaviour management and pastoral care initiatives across the Junior School
- Providing direct daily support for students in Prep to Year 2
- Supporting teachers to implement consistent behaviour and wellbeing practices
- Building strong partnerships with families and serving as a key pastoral contact
- Monitoring student wellbeing and coordinating support plans where required
- Developing and delivering social and emotional learning programs
- Coaching teachers in behaviour management and student engagement strategies




- Supporting student transitions and wellbeing across the Junior School

The successful applicant will:

Be an experienced and compassionate educator who understands the developmental needs of young children and has a passion for helping them flourish.

You will possess:

- Queensland College of Teachers registration
- Demonstrated experience in behaviour management and pastoral care within a primary school setting
- Significant experience working with students in the early primary years
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- The ability to engage confidently and empathetically with families
- Experience supporting teacher capability and classroom practice
- Strong organisational and case-management skills
- A calm, authoritative and relational leadership style
- Commitment to the Anglican values and ethos of Canterbury College

Postgraduate qualifications in education, leadership, learning support or related fields will be highly regarded.

The Founders of Canterbury College wanted to establish an independent school with strong Anglican convictions, which would provide a new choice for parents.

The College began teaching on Monday 2 February 1987 on its beautiful site overlooking the Logan River and had its official opening ceremony in September that year. Originally named The College of the Positive Shepherd, it began with 73 students across Years 6, 7 and 8.

It has continued to grow into the beautiful campus with state-of-the-art facilities and student population of 1400 which stands now.
