About the role

Barwon Health is the Aged Care Assessment (ACA) Lead Provider for the Victorian Department of Health contract across the VIC 3 Service Area, delivering hospital and community-based aged care assessment services across the Barwon South West, Grampians and Loddon Mallee regions in partnership with Grampians Health and Bendigo Health.

We are seeking a Workplace Trainer to join the Victorian West Single Assessment Service (SAS) in this newly created role. As a key member of the SAS team, you will plan, facilitate and lead the delivery of training and education programs for clinical and non-clinical assessment staff across VIC 3, ensuring training remains current, role-specific and aligned with Commonwealth and Victorian Department of Health requirements.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will support the implementation of the National Training Strategy developed by the Commonwealth Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, helping to drive consistent, high-quality aged care assessment practices across the consortium.

The role requires contemporary knowledge of straightforward and comprehensive aged care assessment processes, the Aged Care Assessment Program Guidelines, and the changes associated with the new Aged Care Act. Using evidence-based adult learning principles and contemporary technology,



you will develop and deliver engaging training that strengthens workforce capability, enhances compliance and supports the delivery of high-quality, holistic and consumer-centred assessments.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate and deliver engaging, evidence-based training programs aligned with the My Aged Care Workforce Learning Strategy to support high-quality, consistent and efficient aged care assessments across the VIC 3 region

Identify workforce training needs, maintain accurate learner records, monitor compliance with mandatory training requirements and evaluate training effectiveness to drive continuous improvement and best-practice outcomes

Collaborate with SAS managers, trainers and key stakeholders to standardise education programs, support Communities of Practice and contribute to regional, state and Commonwealth training and performance reporting activities

What we’re looking for

Tertiary qualification in nursing, allied health or a related health discipline,



with current unrestricted AHPRA registration or membership of a relevant professional association and demonstrated experience as a Complex Assessment Clinician or Delegate

Proven ability to design, deliver and evaluate adult education and workplace training programs, including coaching and supporting learners using a range of training methods to achieve required outcomes

Excellent communication, documentation and advanced computer skills, with the ability to identify learning needs, develop collaborative solutions and travel across regional and rural service areas when required
