An opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join the Sandfire Technology team on a contractor basis for 12 months.

About The Role Reporting to the Manager Operations and Cyber Security, the Senior Azure Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, automation, optimisation and governance of Sandfire's Microsoft Azure platform and associated Microsoft cloud technologies. The role provides technical leadership in the development of secure, scalable and resilient cloud solutions, establishes engineering standards and best practices, and works collaboratively with internal stakeholders and the Managed Service Provider (MSP) to deliver cloud platform capabilities that support business objectives and enable reliable operational services.

Duties And Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

- Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable Azure Landing Zones.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep or ARM templates).
- Design and support Azure networking solutions including Azure Firewall,



Application Gateway (WAF), Private Link, ExpressRoute and VPN connectivity.
- Implement Azure governance, including Azure Policy, RBAC, resource management and cost optimisation.
- Manage and enhance hybrid identity services across Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive.
- Contribute to information protection, compliance and data governance initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership on cloud architecture, engineering standards and best practices.
- Develop technical documentation, standards and implementation guidelines.
- Identify opportunities to improve security, automation, resilience and operational efficiency.

About You

- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in infrastructure and cloud engineering, including experience in a senior engineering, technical lead or equivalent role.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Microsoft Azure solutions, including cloud architecture, hybrid identity services (Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID), Microsoft 365, identity and access management
- Experience working with and providing technical oversight of MSPs and technology vendors.

Desirable

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions and migrating on-premises infrastructure to Microsoft Azure is favourably.
