SPORTENG is a specialist consultancy dedicated to the planning, design, and construction supervision of sports Fields of Play. We work with Councils, education providers, sporting bodies, and elite organisations across Australia and internationally, delivering innovative and practical design solutions that support both community and high-performance sport. We're looking for an experienced engineering leader to head up our Melbourne-based design and engineering team, with responsibility for team performance, project delivery, and supporting business growth across the state.

The Role As Team

Lead, you'll lead a team of engineers, drafters, designers, and project managers, while also directly managing a portfolio of sport-focused civil engineering projects from scoping through to construction administration. You'll work closely with the Chief Operating Officer on team utilisation, quality, and financial performance, and with the Commercial Manager on state-based sales and business development. This role suits a senior engineer who is ready to step into people leadership, and is comfortable balancing hands-on project delivery with broader team accountability.

What You'll Be Doing Lead and mentor the Melbourne-based design and engineering team

Act as Project Manager on engineering/field of play projects, scoping, managing, and directing projects to deliver on time and on budget

Monitor team utilisation, resourcing, and financial KPIs, including monthly invoice targets and scope change notice budgets

Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships, including governing bodies, contractors, councils, and architectS

Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management

Uphold workplace health, safety, and environmental standards across the team and on construction sites

Contribute to SPORTENG's integrated management system and drive continuous improvement in team processes What We're Looking For Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related technical disciplinE

Seven years' post-graduate experience in engineering or related roles

Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a team

Robust track record in project management, client engagement, and business development

Excellent communication skills across internal and external stakeholder groups

Construction Induction Card (White Card) and current driver's licence

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to take a technical leadership role within our growing design team.

The Role

As a Senior Civil Engineer at SPORTENG, you’ll lead the design and delivery of sports facility projects from concept through to construction. You’ll balance client needs with technical, environmental, and regulatory requirements, while guiding project teams to deliver high-quality outcomes. This role suits someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, values collaboration, and is ready to mentor and support engineers and designers while continuing to grow their own expertise.

What You’ll Be Doing Lead the planning, design, and delivery of Fields of Play and sports facility projects

Work closely with clients to define project scope, manage expectations, and deliver practical solutions

Prepare and review designs, reports, and technical documentation in line with governing body standards

Oversee and review the use of AutoCAD and 12D across project teams

Coordinate site investigations, inspections, and technical approvals

Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to engineers, designers, and drafters

Support consistent, high-quality delivery across SPORTENG’s national team

Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and technical standards. What We’re Looking For Bachelor of Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

5+ years’ experience in civil engineering design and project delivery

Experience leading projects and supporting junior team members

Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and 12D

Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients and stakeholders

Experience working with councils or public-sector clients (highly regarded)

SPORTENG is bringing its human resources function in-house and has created a new People and Culture Lead role to lead it. The role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Role The

People and Culture Lead is accountable for the employee experience across SPORTENG, from recruitment through to offboarding. The role leads HR strategy, safety and compliance, and culture and engagement, ensuring people practices support both individual growth and business performance. This role suits an experienced, generalist HR professional with a track record of managing the full HR function directly, including employee relations matters that would otherwise sit with an outsourced provider.

What You'll Be Doing Own SPORTENG's HR function in-house, including strategy, policy, and case management.

Lead the Employment Hero platform transition and its ongoing administration Manage employee relations matters directly, including performance issues, grievances, and terminations.

Maintain employment contracts and policies in compliance with the Fair Work Act 2009 and applicable modern awards.

Own workplace health and safety compliance, including the relationship with SPORTENG's external WHS partner.

Lead the annual staff engagement survey, including analysis, reporting, and follow-through on actions.

Own the career progression framework and salary bands across all disciplines and pathways.

Lead the performance and salary review cycle and provide coaching to managers on people leadership practice.

Partner with the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Technical Officer, and Team Leads on workforce planning and recruitment.

Design and deliver culture initiatives, including the staff retreat, recognition programs, and team events.

What We're Looking For Tertiary qualification in human resources, organisational psychology, or a related field.

Substantial experience in a senior, generalist HR role with end-to-end case management, ideally within professional services or an engineering consultancy.

Demonstrated experience managing employee relations matters.

Working knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 and modern award compliance.

Experience managing WHS frameworks and compliance.

Experience with HR information systems, Employment Hero experience is an advantage. Why SPORTENG Direct reporting line to the CEO, with oversight of the people and culture function.

Responsibility for establishing an in-house HR function following the transition from an outsourced model.
