About the Opportunity

Green Civil Australia is looking for an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to take a lead role in shaping the pipeline of work that drives our business forward. This is a high-impact, Sydney-based position for a commercially astute estimator ready to move beyond supporting tenders to owning them — from first principles through to contract award. You'll bring deep technical expertise, sharp commercial judgement, and the confidence to lead complex, high-value tenders with minimal oversight, backed by genuine autonomy and a strong pipeline of civil and infrastructure work.

About the Role

Reporting to the Estimating Manager / Pre-Contracts Manager, you'll take ownership of the full estimating process for complex civil and infrastructure projects — from tender strategy and pricing through to submission, negotiation, and handover — while mentoring junior estimators and contributing to the commercial direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead full tender processes for complex, high-value civil and infrastructure projects, from go/no-go through to final submission
- Develop tender strategy and win themes alongside senior management
- Own detailed quantity take-offs, first-principles pricing, and cost benchmarking
- Interpret complex tender documentation, identifying commercial risks and opportunities
- Negotiate directly with subcontractors and suppliers on major packages
- Drive value engineering to improve constructability and strengthen submissions
- Manage commercial and contractual risk throughout the tender lifecycle
- Engage directly with clients, principal contractors, and project stakeholders as the senior estimating representative
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate estimators
- Oversee handover to delivery teams,

Skills & Experience

Essential

- Minimum 10 years' experience in civil construction or infrastructure estimating, including leadership of complex, high-value tenders
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline
- Proven track record winning large-scale, multi-million dollar civil and infrastructure projects
- Strong commercial acumen and risk awareness across the tender lifecycle
- Advanced proficiency in estimating software (Cubit, CostX, Candy, Benchmark, Expert Estimation or similar)
- Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring estimating staff
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and standard contract forms (AS4000, AS4300, GC21)

Desirable:
- Experience in defence, data centre, renewable energy, or complex infrastructure sectors
- Exposure to alliance, ECI, or design-and-construct delivery models
- Current driver's licence

Typical Projects Bulk earthworks, major road and pavement construction, stormwater and drainage infrastructure, concrete structures, retaining walls, demolition and remediation, utilities infrastructure, industrial developments, data centres, defence infrastructure, renewable energy projects, and large-scale land subdivisions.
