GDR Civil Contracting is seeking experienced and hands‑on Works Supervisor to join our growing team.
This is an opportunity for a strong civil construction qualified who can lead crews, make confident decisions on site and adapt to changing project requirements.
The successful candidate will have proven experience across drainage and road construction , with the ability to transfer levels and confidently oversee day‑to‑day civil works.
This is a hands‑on supervisory position . While you will be responsible for leading crews and coordinating site activities, you must also be willing to operate plant and assist on the ground when required.
About the Role
As a Works supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily civil construction activities, coordinating labour, plants and materials, and ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
You will work closely with site crews, subcontractors and GDR management while maintaining accurate site documentation and reporting. These responsibilities align with the attached position description, including toolbox talks, pre‑starts, site records, plant checks and project reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate day‑to‑day civil construction works.
- Lead and support site crews across multiple work fronts.
- Coordinate labour, plant, materials and daily site activities.
- Oversee drainage and road construction works.
- Monitor site progress and adapt works where required.
- Liaise with management, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain robust safety, quality and environmental standards.
- Operate plant and assist with hands‑on site work when required.
About You
- Proven civil construction supervisory experience.
- Drainage experience.
- Road building experience.
- Ability to transfer levels.
- Construction White Card.
- Current driver's licence (Minimum HR driver's licence preferred).
- Basic computer skills, including emails and site reporting.
- Plant operating experience highly regarded.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing site conditions.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- A practical, hands‑on approach to civil construction.
