Provide transport to members participating in one of Myrtle Cottage programs. To ensure that all members are transported safely, treated fairly with respect and included in their own decision‑making process relating to transportation activities and outings.
- Assist Myrtle Cottage and Bus Driver to pick up and drop off members to and from our premises and during outings.
- Follow directions provided on the Transport Run Sheet and seek clarification where required.
- Welcome members by assisting them to and from the vehicles including the operation of wheelchair hoist.
- Secure wheelchair restraint systems consistent with operational guidelines.
- Ensure loose items such as walkers/wheelchairs/trolleys are secured with appropriate restraints available in vehicle.
- Ensure members are safely delivered to and from their home to the cottage return again. Waiting for members to open their front door before leaving.
At times members may ask you to assist them to open their front door.
- Assist all members to travel comfortably and safely in vehicles ensuring seat belts are securely fastened and bags are safely stored.
- Alert staff to any changes in members health or mobility or observations of deterioration during transportation.
- Follow Myrtle Cottage Group Policies and Procedures.
