African Drumming
St Kilda
Hands-on creative work - shoot content on location at our St Kilda studio.
Fun, supportive team culture.
African Drumming is Australia's leading West African music specialist. We craft our instruments in St Kilda using traditional methods, run hundreds of workshops a year, and host retreats in Ghana, Bali, Australia and NZ. We also manage our sister company Bashiri, importing art and handmade baskets from Ghana, and we're launching a new sound healing brand soon.
We're a busy, friendly team with a broad scope of work, so adaptability is key. This role mostly covers African Drumming across our AU and NZ websites, with a growing focus on a new sound healing brand. You'll work closely with our Business DevelopmentManager and be comfortable working independently.
The Role:
- Create, curate and schedule engaging, original content, including video, across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
- Plan posts and stories in advance across a variety of topics and formats to drive traffic, engagement and conversions.
- Create promotional videos for our websites and paid campaigns across Google and Meta.
- Design content in Canva for Google and Meta ad campaigns and other marketing channels.
- Support photoshoots as required.
- Help monitor comments and queries across social channels when needed.
- Report on social media performance and provide recommendations for future campaigns.
Skills and Experience:
- 1+ years in social media, content creation or copywriting, or relevant tertiary study.
- A portfolio including videos you've shot and edited.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects to deadline.
- A good sense of style and design.
- Direct, curious and adaptable, with a sense of humour.
- Able to shift tone across brands: energetic for African Drumming, calmer for sound healing.
- Full Australian working rights required.
- Video editing, photography, or knowledge of West African music, culture or drumming are an advantage.
- Free drumming classes.
- Discounts on our products, retreats, instruments, baskets and art.
- Support for professional development and training.
Hours and Rate
This role works 3 days per week (7.5 hours/day). We're flexible on the exact days, but they should be spread across the week rather than run consecutively.
You'll be based in office at our St Kilda studio. Being on the ground allows you to capture content as it happens, which is a big part of what makes our socials feel authentic.
$30-$35 per hour plus super, permanent part-time. Immediate start available, but we're flexible.
