About the Role
We’re seeking a compassionate and organised health, welfare or disability professional to provide person-centred support to individuals and families living with epilepsy as part of our Comprehensive Support Services team.
As an Epilepsy Advisor, you will manage a caseload, including clients with complex needs. You will support individuals to understand their seizures and epilepsy, live safely and well, and navigate their roles at home, in the community, school, or workplace, while building self-management skills and connecting with appropriate services.
You will also contribute to our information line, providing single-session support to callers. The role offers opportunities to deliver education and training, and to facilitate workshops for people living with epilepsy and key stakeholders such as families, educators, and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide information and support to people living with epilepsy and their families using a person-centred, best-practice approach
- Manage a caseload,
including clients with complex support needs
- Conduct needs assessments and support clients to achieve their goals
- Assist clients to access services and build self-advocacy skills
- Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers and community organisations
- Deliver epilepsy education and training to people living with epilepsy, their families, and support staff
- Facilitate group sessions and workshops for people living with epilepsy and their families
- Maintain accurate and timely records
About You
- Skilled clinical experience and relevant qualifications in health, welfare, or disability fields
- Demonstrated experience delivering health-related information and support
- Experience supporting self-management using a person-centred, strengths-based approach
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to people from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds
- Ability to work collaboratively with agencies, hospitals, community service providers, and other key stakeholders
- Experience providing support via telephone and/or videoconference
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn about epilepsy (prior knowledge not essential)
- Lived experience of epilepsy will be highly regarded
