Financial Counsellor

This role supports people experiencing financial hardship through inbound National Debt Helpline calls and online chat, providingtimely,practicaland compassionate financial counselling.

About the role

The Financial Counsellor provides inbound phone and online chat support through the National Debt Helpline on a rostered basisas well as providinghigh-quality financial counselling, casework and advocacy to people seeking immediate guidance or longer-term support.

This permanent part-time 0.8 FTE position is based in South Australia,



with office location negotiable within theMoneycareteam, reporting to the Team Leader. Pay isin accordance witha SCHADS Level 4–5, subject to accreditation.

How you will make an impact

- Developing collaborative case plans that build financial capability,resilienceand wellbeing

- Undertaking holistic assessments to understand each person’s circumstances,needsand goals

- Advocating for community members with creditors, serviceprovidersand external agencies

- Supporting access to services and strengthening community connections

- Maintainingaccuraterecords in SAMIS and meeting all reporting requirements

- Identifyingrisks and service gaps and escalating appropriately

- Participating in professional development and reflective practice

- Contributing to financial capability education where appropriate

- Providing financial counselling through inbound NDH calls, online chat and in-person appointments, offering clear,practicaland empathetic support

What you will bring

- MinimumDiploma of Financial Counselling

- Eligibility for SCHADS Level 4 (working toward accreditation) or Level 5 (accredited)

- Experience in social services, communityengagementor financial hardship support

- Understanding of the drivers of financial hardship and financial exclusion

- Strong communicationskills across phone, online chat andin personsettings

- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
