UDEC is seeking an experienced Senior Designer with a demonstrated background in utilities and/or water / wastewater design on major infrastructure projects in Australia, to expand our design capability in our Queensland / Victoria offices.
The Senior
Designer is responsible for the design and delivery of high-quality design packages, efficient digital workflows and mentoring of junior designers. This is a full-time position with UDEC based in our office reporting to the 12D / CADD Manager National. UDEC is looking for a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in developing and broadening their skills and experience in the Public Utilities, Water and Wastewater Industry within an engineering company with a primary focus on major infrastructure projects across Australia.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead civil design delivery for complex infrastructure projects
Create detailed 3D models and construction drawings using 3D modelling software, including 12D Model
Establish and maintain efficient 12D customization, templates, and drafting standards
Provide technical mentorship and quality assurance reviews for junior design staff
Identify project scope and programme requirements to carry out the work, specific to each job being undertaken
Undertake engineering modelling and design works
Responsible for maintaining project programme delivery in accordance with project programme timeframes
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and Utility Authorities to secure technical approvals
Adherence to UDEC Quality Management System project requirements including CAD requirements What We Look For:
Experience
8+ years of civil design experience within an Australian Consultancy Software skills
Expert level proficiency in 12D Model and AutoCAD
Proficient in the use of Synergy
Software customization, script authoring etc. Qualifications
Tertiary education in relevant discipline e.g.
Advanced
Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of water authority standards and guidelines
Understanding of Local Authority standards and guidelines (preferred but not essential) Delivery
Proven track record of managing models, tracking model changes and collaborating with digital engineering (BIM teams) Communication
Excellent verbal and written skills
High level verifiable discipline coordination skills and relationship management skills Additional features of the role (travel or physical requirements):
Generally based at UDEC Brisbane or Melbourne office but may be required to work from dedicated Major Projects offices as required for project delivery. Our People:
