We are expanding our drafting capability in our Queensland / Victoria offices. UDEC is seeking an experienced Senior Drafter to produce construction-ready documentation for major infrastructure projects across Australia.

Drafter acts as the gatekeeper for drafting quality, transforming engineering concepts into precise technical drawings.
The Senior
Drafter is responsible for overseeing drawing management on projects, contributing to continuous improvement of company CAD systems and mentoring junior drafting staff This is a full-time position with UDEC based in our office reporting to the 12D / CADD Manager National. UDEC is looking for a highly motivated individual with a keen interest in developing and broadening their skills and experience in the Public Utilities, Water and Wastewater Industry within an engineering company with a primary focus on major infrastructure projects across Australia. Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead civil CAD delivery for complex infrastructure projects
Effective utilisation of computer-aided design and drafting software applications applicable to utility infrastructure design
Establish and maintain effective CAD customization, templates, XREF structure and drafting standards
Coordinate cross-disciplinary drawing packages,
managing digital delivery and data transfers
Provide technical mentorship for junior and intermediate drafting staff to upskill the team in drafting efficiency and presentation
Identify project scope and programme requirements to carry out the work, specific to each job being undertaken
Develop and produce technical drawings as required by the Project Manager, Engineers, Designers using CAD, digital graphics and desktop publishing computer systems
Conduct rigorous quality assurance reviews on all outgoing documentation before engineering sign-off
Responsible for maintaining project programme delivery in accordance with project programme timeframes
Adherence to UDEC Quality Management System project requirements including CAD requirements What We Look For:
Experience
8+ years of relevant experience in preparing drawings for civil infrastructure projects using 2D drafting software within an Australian Consultancy Software skills
Advanced / expert level proficiency in AutoCAD (2D production and sheet set management)
Proficient in the use of Synergy
Software customization, script authoring etc. Qualifications
Tertiary education in relevant discipline Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of CAD standards, civil drafting conventions, standard symbols and presentation guidelines across various Australian states
Solid working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and State Government drafting requirements Delivery
Proven track record of managing drawing registers and collaborating with digital engineering (BIM teams) Communication
Excellent verbal and written skills
High level verifiable discipline coordination skills and relationship management skills Additional features of the role (travel or physical requirements): Generally based at UDEC Brisbane or Melbourne office but may be required to work from dedicated Major Projects offices as required for project delivery.
