Position Title: Business Partner (Health)
Location: Perth, WA The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Human Resources Business Partner to join our People team, supporting our Health portfolio across remote Aboriginal communities in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.
As a trusted advisor to leaders, you will partner with managers to deliver practical, contemporary people solutions that enable high-quality health services while supporting a positive employee experience. Working across a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce, you will provide expert advice and coaching on a broad range of people matters, including employee and industrial relations, performance management, workforce planning, organisational change, recruitment, policy development, and employment legislation.
This is a true generalist Business Partner role, requiring someone who can confidently operate at both a strategic and operational level. You will work closely with leaders to identify workforce challenges, implement practical HR initiatives, and contribute to continuous improvement across the organisation, while also being willing to roll up your sleeves and manage day-to-day HR administration.
Success in this role will come from your ability to build trusted relationships, influence and coach leaders, navigate complex employment matters with confidence, and balance organisational compliance with practical, people-focused outcomes. In this role, you will:
- Build trusted relationships with managers across the Health portfolio, providing practical and strategic HR advice to support workforce planning, operational priorities and effective people leadership
- Manage and advise on complex employee and industrial relations matters, including performance management, investigations, disciplinary processes, grievances, Award interpretation and employment legislation.
- Build leadership capability by providing coaching, guidance and practical support to managers on people management, employee engagement, conflict resolution and best practice employment approaches.
- Partner with leaders to implement organisational change initiatives, including restructures, workforce changes and other people-related projects,
ensuring change is managed effectively and in line with organisational objectives.
- Support workers' compensation and injury management activities in partnership with the Injury Management Consultant, ensuring compliant return-to-work processes.
- Operate as a true HR generalist by providing both strategic advice and hands-on support across the employee lifecycle. This includes preparing employment documentation, maintaining accurate employee records, coordinating HR processes and completing operational HR activities to ensure a responsive and efficient People & Culture service
About You You are an experienced HR professional with strong generalist capability and a demonstrated ability to partner with leaders in complex and changing environments. You bring a practical, solutions-focused approach and are confident providing advice across the full employee lifecycle, including employee relations, performance management, workplace change and employment matters.
You are a trusted advisor who builds strong relationships, communicates with influence and supports leaders to navigate people challenges with confidence and empathy. You are comfortable balancing strategic HR priorities with hands-on operational delivery and enjoy working in an workplace where you can make a meaningful impact.
You are adaptable, organised and able to work effectively in a setting where processes may be evolving, and a proactive approach is valued. You will have the ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and deliver practical HR solutions that support employees and the organisation.
Experience working within healthcare, Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, community services, remote service delivery or the not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
Your background will include:
- Degree qualification in Human Resources.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a Human Resources, with strong experience in Employee Relations or Industrial Relations
- Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation, Fair Work, Modern Awards and HR best practice.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters, investigations and performance management processes.
- Experience providing advice on remuneration, Award interpretation and organisational compliance.
- Proven ability to build trusted stakeholder relationships and influence leaders at all levels.
- Experience leading HR projects, organisational change initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret HR data and identify business improvement opportunities.
- Experience supporting workers' compensation and injury management processes is desirable.
- Experience working within Aboriginal organisations, healthcare or community services will be highly regarded.

About the Ngaanyatjarra Council The Ngaanyatjarra Lands are managed by the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG), a wholly community-led organisation representing the interests of Traditional Owners (Yarnangu) across 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia.
Established in 1981, NCG employs over 450 people and delivers essential services including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres and land services. We are one of Australia's largest and most successful Indigenous organisations.
