We have a unique short-term opportunity for a fixed term Student Engineer position which could provide a development pathway for Graduate Engineer positions at the City, and beyond. The incumbent will be expected to acquire a range of basic skills in all aspects of civil engineering at the City of Swan, under close supervision by experienced officers. We currently have an opportunity for a student to gain some paid experience on a fixed term full time basis until 28 August 2026, with possibility of extension.

Key Accountabilities

- To gain familiarity with all aspects of civil engineering at the City of Swan - project management, civil design, asset management, construction and maintenance
- To work diligently to become familiar with processes, procedures and work practices in the areas of Project Management, Asset Management and Construction & Maintenance
- To carry out relatively straightforward tasks as directed, which are relevant to Project Management, Asset Management and Construction & Maintenance
- To follow all directions and safety practices when taken to construction sites, whether inspecting works by the City of Swan's own crews, or works by contractors working on behalf of developers
- Contribute to the provision of a professional, confidential and timely technical support service to the Asset Management business unit




- Ability to work under broad direction with limited supervision.
- Apply legislative obligations under the E.O. & WHS policies
- Maintain an up to date register of completed work.

Qualifications

- Currently studying a Bachelor Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering
- Good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft office and general tech skills
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position will be from $68,485.62 - $74,307.64 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
