Additional Information
- This role is permanent full-time, 76 hours per fortnight
- Internal job title is Visual Merchandising/Activity Co‑worker
- Location: on-site at IKEA Tempe
- Availability: 7:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and public holiday shifts as required by business needs
- Pre‑employment checks required for shortlisted candidates
- Successful candidates must obtain a National Police Check
Recruitment Process Overview

- Group interview: candidates who progress to the next stage will be invited to attend a group interview on Tuesday, 11 August 2026
- Panel interview: final round, you will be invited to meet with two members of the hiring team for an in‑person interview
About this work area
As a Visual Merchandiser, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Contributing to positioning the IKEA store as the first choice for home furnishing in your local market
- Creating inspiring and commercially relevant home furnishing solutions that improve people’s lives at home
- Using your visual merchandising and design expertise to strengthen the IKEA identity through store layout, range presentation and customer experience
- Planning, coordinating and delivering projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring deadlines and commercial objectives are met
- Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders across the store to bring ideas to life and influence positive business outcomes
- Communicating and presenting design concepts in a clear, engaging and commercially compelling way
- Supporting a culture of collaboration by sharing knowledge, providing constructive feedback and contributing to team success
- Being active and hands‑on throughout the store, ensuring ideas are successfully executed to a high standard
As Visual Merchandiser you are
- Passionate about home furnishing and curious about how people live in their homes
- A creative thinker with strong commercial visual competence and a keen eye for design and aesthetics
- Experienced in visual merchandising, spatial planning, interior design or a similar discipline
- Experienced using digital and design programs such as Microsoft Apps, Revit and/or SketchUp to develop concepts and turn ideas into reality
- Practical and hands‑on, with the ability to organise your workload and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced retail environment
- A solid communicator who can build effective relationships and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Comfortable taking initiative, influencing others and driving projects to successful outcomes
- Able to balance creative thinking, commercial priorities and operational execution to deliver exceptional customer experiences
- Formally qualified in design, interior design, visual merchandising or a related field, or equivalent professional visual merchandising experience
