How you'll make an impact
As an Application DBA, you'll play a critical role in supporting one of Australia's leading wealth management platforms, ensuring the performance, stability, security and scalability of the North Platform's database environment. Working across a complex, transaction-heavy ecosystem, you'll take ownership of database design, optimisation and governance, helping to underpin the technology that supports advisers, customers and business partners across AMP's wealth business.
This is far more than a traditional DBA role. You'll act as a technical leader within the North Technology team, partnering closely with developers, project teams and business stakeholders to drive performance improvements, support application delivery, enhance data integrity and strengthen operational resilience. Your expertise will directly influence platform stability, scalability and future roadmap decisions while helping AMP continue its digital transformation journey
What you'll bring to the role
You’ll bring robust experience across SQL Server and enterprise-scale database environments,
coupled with a deep understanding of application development and database design principles. You’ll be comfortable working across database architecture, schema design, performance tuning, stored procedures, indexing strategies and optimisation of high-volume transactional systems. Experience with .NET technologies, Agile delivery environments and modern DevOps practices will be highly valued.
Beyond your technical capability, you’ll be a proactive problem solver who enjoys tackling complex challenges and influencing technical direction. You'll have the confidence to engage with stakeholders across technology and the business, provide mentoring and technical leadership to development teams, and ensure solutions meet security, regulatory and operational requirements. Most importantly, you'll bring a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for building reliable, high-performing platforms.
You’ll thrive here if…
If you can adapt from BAU to the ambiguous with ease, you’ll do well here. Change is never easy, so bring your commitment, grit and growth mindset.
Because we run lean, you’ll be expected to jump in and deliver across a variety of areas. Meaning, you’ll be closer to the action and executive decisions that influence where we go next.
If you’re someone that can hold their own, you’ll find AMP quite liberating.
We believe in the power of inclusion and diversity
We’re dedicated to fostering inclusion, diversity, and a warm feeling of belonging at AMP.
