Executive Officer – Digital, Data & Technology

Sonic Healthcare is creating a recent role – Executive Officer, Digital, Data & Technology – at the centre of the global technology function we are building. Reporting to the Chief Digital, Data and Information Officer (CDDIO), the Executive Officer will amplify the impact and reach of the CDDIO and the global CIO team – helping develop and drive the group’s Digital, Data and Technology strategy, supporting the identification and execution of value‑creation and improvement initiatives, and keeping the day‑to‑day agenda moving across markets and functions.

This is not a traditional technology job. Working directly with business, project and technical teams, much will be achieved through influence and trust rather than direct authority – with genuine respect for local leadership and domain expertise – in every market in which Sonic operates.

As a newly created role at the centre of a function being built across the group, this is a rare opportunity to help shape how Digital, Data and Technology is run at Sonic – and to build an unrivalled network across our global organisation.

Sonic conducts approximately 129 million patient consultations each year, and the speed, accuracy and accessibility of our diagnostic services increasingly depend on the digital platforms that connect our laboratories, clinicians and patients. Key responsibilities

The Executive Officer will:

Work with the CDDIO and Technology leadership teams across markets and functions to develop, maintain and drive the execution of the Digital, Data and Technology strategy, using it to prioritise the day‑to‑day agenda.

Support the innovation agenda by helping govern technology innovations and investments through lean startup and other modern approaches.

Maintain up‑to‑date, forward‑looking roadmaps for Digital, Data and Technology solutions and services across the group.

Manage technology innovation projects end to end – feasibility, scoping, planning, monitoring and issue resolution – navigating stakeholder change along the way.

Help control budgets in collaboration with Finance, and support the preparation of presentations for Board and executive meetings and communication within the team.





Support the CDDIO on cross‑functional and cross‑country projects, coordinating with functions and markets across time zones.

You do not need a technology background – curiosity about technology matters more than experience in it. This role might suit you if you are:

A strong analytical performer from a consulting, strategy, finance, operations or project background who wants exposure to executive decision‑making.

A natural communicator with high EQ, comfortable working with senior leaders and building relationships across countries and cultures.

A structured thinker and doer – organised, reliable and able to manage several initiatives at once.

Ambitious but collegial – resourceful, low maintenance and able to work autonomously with little oversight.

Curious about how a global healthcare company runs – and keen to help shape it.

Background and experience

A bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, computer science or a related field.

Around 2–5 years of post‑university experience – for example at a leading management or IT consulting firm, or in another advisory capacity.

Experience developing project plans, building project teams and delivering with and through others.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Atlassian products.

Experience managing medium‑to‑large technology projects is a nice‑to‑have, but not necessary.

Practicalities

Location: Sydney (relocation required if not already based in Sydney).

Travel: some international travel expected.
