Summary
Provide strategic leadership in the co‑design of Aboriginal justice policy in partnership with Aboriginal communities to enable self‑determined solutions.
Fixed‑term, part‑time (24‑month) position working Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (22.8 hours per week).
VPS Grade 6: $142,790 – $191,084 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional leading expertise across Victoria on strategic Aboriginal Justice policy matters, including stakeholder engagement and emerging policy and implementation issues.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Victorian Government’s commitment to Aboriginal self‑determination and identify, develop and deliver reforms that align with that agenda.
- Collaborate with senior management to develop and manage aspects of the evolving policy on Aboriginal Justice matters.
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders, the Director, Executive Director, Deputy Secretary, Board of Management and Ministers on the Aboriginal Justice Group’s reform agenda.
- Prepare Cabinet and Parliamentary documentation and draft Ministerial and other correspondence as required.
Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of Aboriginal culture, society,
and contemporary and historical issues affecting Aboriginal Victorians.
- Strong experience working with Aboriginal communities and advisory groups, demonstrating culturally aware stakeholder engagement.
- Deep knowledge of public policy development and implementation, and understanding of Cabinet processes and Government decision‑making.
- Proven experience in advocacy and delivering policy and reform through community partnership and targeted engagement.
Requirements
For Aboriginal Designated and Prioritised positions, a Certificate of Aboriginality (CoA) will be required before an offer of employment is made.
