O'Connell's Centenary Hotel in South Melbourne and The Flying Duck Hotel in Prahran are two of Melbourne's most-loved gastropubs, under the same ownership. O'Connell's is a South Melbourne institution dating back to 1876, recently revived with a menu built around the Josper grill and native Australian ingredients. The Flying Duck is a Prahran favourite known for its warm, buzzing atmosphere, quality food and drink, and standout event spaces. Between them our venues host everything from intimate private dinners to large corporate functions, engagement parties, and Christmas events.

The Opportunity

We're looking for an organised, personable sales coordinator who turns enquiries into booked functions and doesn't wait for the phone to ring. This is an office-hours role (Monday–Friday) focused on converting and growing our function bookings across both venues. You win the booking; our floor teams run the event on the day.

- Responding fast to inbound enquiries (corporate functions, private parties, engagements, Christmas bookings, group dining) and converting them to confirmed bookings
- Proactively reaching out to past groups and corporate clients to drive repeat bookings, especially ahead of key periods (Christmas, EOFY)
- Preparing tailored packages and quotes,



and confirming every detail before handing the booking to the venue team
- Owning a clean handover to floor management so each function runs seamlessly
- Managing your enquiries, pipeline, and customer history in Hubspot
- Reporting booking numbers and forecasts to ownership

About You

- Experience booking or coordinating functions in a hospitality venue, pub, hotel, function centre, or catering is essential
- You understand how a venue actually runs: covers, minimum spends, run-of-day, and what a floor team needs to deliver a function well
- Quick, warm, and organised on phone and email - you make booking with us easy
- Comfortable chasing repeat business, not just fielding what comes in
- Strong attention to detail; nothing falls through the cracks at handover
- Confident in a CRM (HubSpot experience a plus)
- A genuine feel for hospitality and great food and drink
